Featured below is a disturbing picture that is going to make you see red with anger. Imagine riding down the highway when you come across a small dog crate with wheels being pulled behind an SUV. Then you see that there actually is a dog inside the crate! How would you react during such a situation?
This shocking picture of a dog being pulled behind an SUV on a Georgia highway was taken at 70mph.
According to Nicole Hubbard, she was riding along I-95 in the Peach State with her boyfriend when they saw a dog in a small airline crate attached to the rear bumper of a Dodge Durango shortly before noon.
“We were riding back from a family vacation,” Hubbard, who is also an animal control officer from South Carolina, working at the Oconnee County Sheriff’s Office, says.
“We thought, ‘Surely, they don’t have a dog in the back of it,'” she added. “But when we got up next to it, there the dog was.”
Hubbard warned the state highway patrol. They told her an officer would be sent to stop the vehicle.
“We stayed behind them, and no officer ever came,” she said. She also clarified that the temperature gauge in her car reported it was 94 degrees outside.
“(The temperature) was climbing the whole time,” Hubbard said.
She called the police again to get an update, but she was told that cops couldn’t respond.
“They said they just don’t have an officer to send,” Hubbard says.
But the couple waited about two hours until the caged pup crossed the South Carolina line, where Nicole then called the state’s highway patrol.
“They were wonderful,” said Hubbard.
An operator kept Hubbard on the line until a highway cop was dispatched to pull the vehicle over. It’s not clear if the driver was issued a summons.
“I was just amazed that somebody could be that uneducated of the dangers with that dog being there,” says Nicole.
“Hopefully, they learned something from it.”
