If I had the privilege of owning one of the rarest and most ancient breeds of dogs, I would treat them like someone from the royal family. All of us would…well, except for this dog’s owner. As it turns out, even scarce pure breeds are at a risk of abandonment. Just take a look at Queen.
Ibizan hounds are one of the oldest dog breeds in the world. However, this didn’t stop her cruel owners from abusing her. Queen used to belong to a pair of hunters. She did what was expected of her, but when she started getting sick, the hunters left her alone for dead in a field.
Fortunately, she was found and brought to a vet’s clinic. The first two vets advised putting her down, thinking she was beyond help. But that’s when “Let’s Adopt” stepped in to make Queen comfortable for what could have been her last days on earth.
The series of tests discovered that Queen had Leishmania, a condition transmitted by sandflies. It mostly affects the renal system and can cause lesions on the skin if gone untreated. And since Queen was never treated, her disease developed into polyneuropathy.
Now Queen has recovered remarkably, thanks to the treatment provided to her. She is a completely different girl now.
Once she’s fully recovered, everyone is hoping she will find a loving forever home.
