When your pet dies, it can be a very tough experience for anybody. They are like our family and it takes a lot of time to heal. Sometimes, you try to forget the pain by bringing in another pet into your life.
That’s what Steve Grieg did after his dog passed away.
He was crushed even after months of his dog’s death. He thought he was never going to recover.
He wanted another dog, but he needed the right dog.
So he went to his local shelter and looked for the “most unadoptable” senior dog that they had.
He wanted to find dogs who had been neglected and ignored, and who looked like they were never going to find forever homes.
So Grieg now has ten shelter dogs and he is really happy about his decision.
He even has an Instagram with their pictures and has tens of thousands of followers.
Taking care of them is a whole lot of work. He gets up at five in the morning to prepare a big breakfast for all of them.
All of them have special diets and all of them need to be catered differently.
After a meal, he takes them all on walks to the park, appointments at the vet, and gives them all the love that they deserve.
Having senior dogs is relatively easy since they are already trained and they obey you without much hassle.
The dogs like to take life slow, and that is fine with Steve.
Even when he tries to unwind after a long day, there is always a few grateful dogs attached to his legs.
Knowing that he makes them happy is all the incentive he needs to continue doing what he is doing.
The dogs aren’t the only members of his family.
Steve also has a pet pig named Bikini, two ducks, some pigeons, chickens, and a few cats.
He has a real animal farm in his yard, and he loves it.
He doesn’t have any more room to take in more senior dogs, but he hopes to expand in the future so that no shelter dog will ever have to feel unloved again.
What an awesome man!
