Military dogs are usually sent off to war zones in order to help soldiers. They track down threats, detect bombs, and in some cases, they even sacrifice their own life to protect their fellow human brothers. Meet Ikar. This tactical explosive detection dog was deployed to Afghanistan with Army Specialist Vance McFarland.
Vance says he found a piece of home in the pooch despite being on the battlefield constantly. According to him, other soldiers were jealous that he could have a dog with him. But unfortunately, Ikar and Vance got separated when they reached the US. The pooch had to stay in a kennel for 17 months after his duty was over.
But thankfully, Mission K9 Rescue stepped in to reunite the two best friends. It was an emotional reunion, three years in the making. But McFarland was finally back with his beloved dog. Check out this touching reunion below! What did you think about this? Feel free to share your thoughts with us in the comments!
