You have to meet Lola, this absolutely adorable calico kitten! Lola had a rough beginning. Left alone in a cage in the front of a feed store and farming supply store, crying with loneliness, Lola was absolutely pitiful. Fortunately, Carla Reilly Moore just happened to have to run an errand at the feed store that day!
Moore is the co-founder of Happy Tails Farm Sanctuary in Ontario, Canada. She had just rescued two baby chickens and needed to buy food for them, as she didn’t have the specialty food the young chickens needed.
At the front of the store, she heard the sad wails of a kitten. While she had just rescued six kittens, she felt drawn to the lonely calico kitten. Who wouldn’t be touched by that? Moore picked up the kitten, and the kitten decided she was NOT letting go!
With all four feet, Lola wrapped herself around Moore, and climbed up onto her shoulder and into her hair! Clearly, this kitten had found her human. Moore decided the kitten was coming home with her (not that she had much choice!) and named the kitten Lola.
Of course, driving home with Lola sitting on her shoulder wasn’t easy, but she made it work. All day long, Lola stayed right with Moore, to the point where she had to wear the kitty in a baby carrier. Fortunately, she did stay right with her, as Lola was sick with a lung infection and needed veterinary treatment! Poor baby!
Lola is doing well now, though, and is settling into her new home with her six feline siblings!
