As the old saying goes, beauty lies in the eyes of the beholder. Something that might be appealing to one person might not be as appealing to the next. It might sound strange, but it is true. While people might have different opinions about beauty, perhaps everyone can agree that true beauty comes from within.
Sadly, people tend to judge too quickly from outer appearances. Animals, especially, have a hard time finding homes if they are not “perfect”. A little puppy in North Carolina wasn’t “beautiful” in the conventional sense, so nobody wanted him.
This puppy was put in a high-kill shelter, and his chances of being adopted were very low because of his deformed figure.
He was born blind in one eye, while his right ear was only partially formed.
When Nicole Horabik saw the ad for the puppy online from North Carolina’s Cause for Paws, she immediately knew she had to save him.
When he was 8-weeks-old, she adopted him from the shelter and named him Captain Morgan.
She went on to post this picture on her Facebook page as well.
Nicole was determined to show everyone that beauty could be found even outside the norms of “perfection”. The puppy, lovingly called Cap, is a wonderful dog despite everything.
With Nicole’s love and care, he is healthy now and growing up every day!
Captain Morgan has adjusted beautifully into his new family. The older dogs have taken to him quite well!
Captain Morgan was able to have a happy life because somebody was able to look at him beyond his “flaws”. This shows just how important it is to not judge a book by its cover!
